W.I.P finally

I have been finding myself in a bit of a crochet rut of late, but no longer. The bunting Swap has me crocheting up a storm and I have finally decided on my next big project. I know alot of people don’t like big projects. They are time consuming and you sometimes feel like you are getting no where. Especially if you make all those granny squares and than have to sew them all together.

I LOVE big projects, my granny stripe blanket fits a our double bed and Little Princess’ cot blanket fits over the cot with some extra for prettiness. I love hooking away knowing that I am creating a blanket. A BLANKET! Something that will keep us warm that I hand made with my own 2 hands. It still blows me away that I have accomplished the art of Crochet, when I started with a book and a hook I never thought I would be able to make these beautiful creations, and I’m sure there were a few people out there who thought this would be another phase. But if your a hooker you know once you master the hook and wool you just can’t stop. It truly is a beautifully addictive art.

Well back to my crochet rut, I just have not been able to find that one project I want to work on. I start things put them to the side, unravel them, start them again only to once again put them to the side. I’ve lost my crochet direction. I feel I want to be making a big project but I can’t get my ideas out of my head. Well that has changed, I finally have some crochet direction and it has come in the form of a bed runner and this wool.

I love red, as some of you might of guessed, but I have been toying with the idea of doing our bedroom with blue accents, but than it wouldn’t fit into the house theme and than I thought why not have them together. BRILLIANT problem solved.

I decided I would make a bed runner for our bed using hexagon’s. I love hexagons and Lucy’s pattern is super easy and if you use here guide to joining as you go. You feel the satisfaction of your project growing as you hook away.

I made up some colour template first.

I decided that the best combination was: the duck egg blue in the centre a round of white than a round of red. Top left – that’s the one. That’s the centre of my hexagon’s can’t you just picture it lying accross the bottom of the bed over beautiful white crisp bed linen. I can and it makes me giddy with joy. So I have been crocheting away . . .

well I haven’t gotten very far and they obviously all need another round of white which will make them into lovely hexagon’s, But as I mentioned in the title this is my work in progress. This is going to be my go to project, my pick up and put down (That I want to keep doing – not unravel). So in between madly crocheting buntings for The Bunting Swap, (I have decided exactly what I want mine to look like, and it’s going to be a lot of work, but fun filled work.I’m so looking forward to lovingly popping them in envelopes and mailing them out when the time comes, But as for my work in progress, I LOVE the colours, I’m loving the hooking process and the thought of it on the bed makes me giddy with anticipation.

xx
